Behind every complaint lies a hidden wish

Did you know behind every complaint or criticism is a wish. 🤔

I love this because it reminds me to listen for what is wanted and be conscious that behind the complaint or criticism there is normally a wish for a different or preferred future.

When someone’s venting, complaining, or frustrated… There’s almost always a hope hidden underneath.

🌿 A wish for respect.
🌿 A wish to feel heard.
🌿 A wish for something to be different.

If you are a leader or mentor, instead of shutting it down or offering a quick fix, try asking one of these questions:

💬 “What would you like instead?”
💬 "What are your best hopes from our conversation?"
💬 "What would you hope to see if things were better?"

That’s often where the real conversation begins.
